Not sign on removing all chest.
The problem here don't seem to be the chest, but stupid un-corperative selfish players... which... well, almost everybody...

Chest, by it self, is a great way to assign more rare drops (somewhat better than if they just drop from mob and everyone gets all jealous can saying its unfair). But they do need to make key drop more often.

Now, I do love the chest poping up after a hard or boss fight. Its such rewarding feeling, so I will sign that with modfication. Would make it a new kind of chest (maybe call it Ethreal Safebox), where do not need key for it, and inside drop will have lots stuff that can be assign to everyone. or alternativly, Essents....

another way to make this game even more dull...lets face it factions is mainly "fed ex" missions and they get old..chest running even taking henchies and grinding/chest hunting takes away some of the boredom + some of us are after the 5000chest title

If anything chests should be made so they cannot be opened while in combat.
like identification or salvaging.

What about before there were chests, maybe ppl dont remember that far back or were not playing. There was a time in GW wen rare drops where just that, RARE items DROPING from monsters you kill. the prob with this is, like sumone said u will be paying over 100k for a crappy rare item. i love the chests for this reason cuz i like to buy alot of stuff, not save for weeks to buy 1 item.

Its not really that big of a problem. You don't need to do anything with the chests. People who pick up chest on sight are Hardcore newbies. Chests should not be nerfed because of them. Try telling them not to. Personally I almost never see this problem. And when I do it never results in me loseing the mission or quest.

if you are dumb enouth, to run in for the "cheese" then sorry dude... prolem is you not the game.

and fr PUGs... sometimes things i whitness being done there are wayyyy worse then a W/Mo aggroing the whole map for a chest...

The quality of rares that drop from chests are low anyway so removing them will make little to no difference. And two words: GOLD SINK. It is needed.

I've had more problems with people running to pick up that gold the enemy just dropped only to get killed and put the group at risk of being wiped than with people running for chests. Just because you have bad luck with groups doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer.

Actually I have a better idea, instead of taking chests away, what you can do instead is to make the act of opening a chest a (somewhat) lengthy process, like 2 seconds, during which you are easily interrupted.

This solution would have many benefits:

1) You gotta clear all the crap around the chest before opening it.
2) Eliminates chest runs (I always think these cheapens chest items)
3) I don't know
